Dad shot dead in front of wife and child was once on most wanted list

A dad shot dead in front of his wife and child on Christmas Eve was once on a list of Sweden’s “most wanted” criminals.

In 2008, Flamur Beqiri, 36, was suspected of being in a gang which trafficked £2million of cannabis.

Police said he fled a raid in bare feet, but the drugs charges were later dropped, and he was convicted of handling smuggled goods, including cigarettes and alcohol, and got a suspended sentence.

Flamur was shot by a lone gunman up to 10 times outside his £1.5million home in Battersea, South West London, as his wife Debora and young child looked on.

Police said Flamur, whose sister is Real Housewives of Cheshire star Misse Beqiri, had links with Swedish gangsters before moving to London in 2014.

The drugs charges against him were later dropped

Det Insp Jamie Stevenson said: “We are in liaison with our Swedish counterparts to try to understand what, if any, incidents there may have been that might have led to someone seeking retribution against Flamur in the UK.”

DI Stevenson said Flamur’s wife and child were “coming to terms with having their world turned upside down”.

Flamur was friends with Naief Adawi, 33, who was part of a gang that stole £7million in one of Denmark’s biggest ever cash robberies.

Adawi’s wife Karolin Hakim, 31, was shot dead in Malmo, Sweden, in August.
