A man has been arrested after a mother was attacked with a glass bottle and left with a horrific head wound.
A graphic picture showed Yavana Dix, 20, crying, with blood covering her face after she was assaulted in the early hours of Friday, December 20.
Ms Dix, a carer for people with disabilities who has a two-year-old son, was attacked in Lake Hill, near her home in Sandown, Isle of Wight.
The suspect, Jamie Simpson, also from Sandown, is now in police custody.
Ms Dix’s family tried to stem the bleeding and put together a makeshift bandage to dress the wound as they waited for her to be taken to hospital.
She was then taken to the island’s St Mary’s hospital by ambulance where she was given six stitches above her eye.
As well as the cut, she also suffered bruising in the assault.
Ms Dix’s brother Sean posted the image of her on social media. Last week, her mother Denise Robinson said: ‘She’s very anxious and scared.
‘She’s not eating, she’s not sleeping.’
