Police investigating mans body found in Liverpool park

The body of a man was found this afternoon in a city park.

Emergency services were called to The Mystery park in Wavertree at around 2pm.

It followed a report from a member of the public that a body had been found.

An area of the large park was sealed off, with officers protecting the scene.

Police cars and an ambulance lined Grant Avenue, which runs down one side of the Mystery, formally known as Wavertree Playing Fields.

The death is being treated as unexplained.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the cause of death.

Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and inform his next of kin, police said.

There is as yet no approximate age for the victim.
