Police issue investigation update after fire kills dad and daughter, 10

Police have said a post mortem examination is due to be carried out today on the man who tragically died alongside his daughter in a house fire in Wensley Avenue on Saturday.

The two victims have been named locally as 47-year-old Garry Bolton and his daughter Paige, 10.

They were killed when a fire ripped through their north Hull home just before 8am on Saturday, January 25.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said the father had died at the scene, while the young girl was taken into hospital but sadly died shortly afterwards.

Investigations are now ongoing, police said, into the circumstances of the fire.

Police said a post mortem on Paige’s body is due to take place next week.

Chief Superintendent Darren Downs said: “We are continuing to support the families of those involved at this very difficult time and our thoughts are with them.

“We know that this has also had an impact on the wider community, so please feel free to speak to our officers in the area if you have any queries or concerns.

“There is also support available from a number of local agencies and charities for anyone who has been affected by the incident and needs someone to talk to.

“Investigations into this kind of incident are very complex and take time to complete, so it’s unlikely that we will be able to provide any further details about the incident until early next week.

“In the meantime I would ask that people avoid speculating about the circumstances and if you have any information you believe would assist our investigation, please get in touch on our non-emergency 101 line, quoting log number 127 of 25 January.”
