The coronavirus death toll in the UK has risen to at least 28,321 after 346 more deaths were confirmed on Sunday among people in hospitals who had been been diagnosed with the virus.
The figure is set to rise later as the Government’s official figures now include deaths in care homes and the wider community after the Department of Health began counting them on Wednesday.
Meanwhile the government has said it is considering quarantining arrivals into UK airports in a bid to prevent a second wave of the virus
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said the measure could be implemented to ensure the country is not ‘importing’ the pandemic after bringing down infection rates.
